Debra Wellman

Debra Wellman is a highly experienced Higher Education Administrator with a strong background in improving higher education and teacher education.

With expertise in Literacy Instruction, Rubrics, Leadership, and Children's Books, Debra has a keen focus on research in literacy education and the significance of field experiences in teacher preparation programs.

She holds a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction with a minor in multicultural education from the University of Toledo alongside an MS in Education Administration from Eastern Illinois University and a BS in Elementary Education & Physical Education from Illinois College.

Debra's professional journey includes roles such as Professor Of Education, Chair of the Department of Education, Director of the CAJ Institute for Effective Teaching, ACE Fellow at the American Council on Education, Interim Dean of the College of Professional Studies & Holt Evening, Dean of the College of Professional Studies, Interim Dean of the Faculty, Associate Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor in the Education Department, and Assistant Professor at Rollins College.
