Deb Lawrence is a contemporary artist based in Cleveland, Ohio, who is represented by Cheryl Hazan Gallery, Tribeca, NYC and Bonfoey Gallery, Cleveland. With a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Ph.D. degree from CWRU and University of Michigan, respectively, she has studied drawing and painting under the experienced Gerald Vandevier from the Cleveland Institute of Art.

Lawrence's artistic work holds a unique position with its materiality, process, and conceptual basis, which is complemented by psychological and feminist features. Her work centers on Donald Winnicott's "transitional objects" and the universal use of objects throughout life that help individuals form their genuine selves. She makes use of antique linen dating back to the 1800s, hand-woven by women and originally used as bed sheets and duvet covers, to engender a sense of strength, authenticity and beauty in imperfection.

Lawrence's work has been featured in various publications, including Contemporary Art Book, Fresh Paint Magazine, Hamptons Art Hub, and Views Magazine. In addition, she has been part of the 2016 Biennial Exhibition in Seoul, South Korea. Her work is widely collected, including World Headquarters of American Greetings.

Lawrence aims to have a distinct voice in elevating women and handcrafted objects to high art, following the tradition of Judy Chicago, Rosemarie Trockle, the women of Gees Bend, and other "unknown women" who have successfully handcrafted masterpieces with little or no recognition or acclaim.
