Katie Meyler is a renowned humanitarian and education activist who founded More Than Me (MTM), a leading education network in Liberia, to rebuild the country's education system. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Theology from North Central University before embarking on a mission to help girls in Liberia access quality education. Under her leadership, MTM grew rapidly and received an "A" rating for quality and scalability, making it the only non-profit education operator to achieve this milestone.
Katie's passion for education runs deep, and she is an advocate for the most vulnerable girls in Liberia who are denied access to basic education. She transitioned MTM to Ebola response and garnered global recognition for her outstanding work on the front lines of the epidemic. TIME Magazine named her 2014 Person of the Year for her efforts in fighting Ebola. Katie also participated in a panel with Bill Gates on combating Ebola, which speaks to her credibility and influence.
She has been recognized by various organizations for her contribution to education and humanitarian work. People Magazine named her one of 25 women changing the world, and Glamour named her as one of four inspiring women to follow on Instagram. She is a Nelson Mandela Changemaker and one of Global Citizen's 17 Badass Women. Katie has also introduced Bono to the girls of West Point slum and was invited as a speaker at the United Nations.
Katie Meyler is passionate about creating a world where all children have access to basic human rights such as education. In her words, "Before I'm an American, I am a human and no little girl, regardless of where she was born, should be forced to work the streets when her biggest dream is just to go to school."
