Aman Mahajan
Aman Mahajan is an Indian pianist, composer, and bandleader based in Bangalore. He utilizes improvised music as a means of expression, interaction, and exploration, blending traditional and contemporary forms of music from around the world. Mahajan's solo piano album REFUGE, released in 2019, is a reflective set of musical themes that explores the concepts of home and pays tribute to inward journeys.
Mahajan regularly performs on the Indian music circuit and internationally, gracing music venues, concert halls, and music festivals such as Moods, Murszene Graz, Jazzwerkstatt Graz, and the Festival of Sacred Music, among others. He maintains a focus on the contemporary improvised music scene in India, teaching privately at his piano studio in Bangalore, and has previously worked as a piano faculty member at the Global Music Institute in Greater Noida.
In addition to his solo work, Mahajan collaborates with a variety of artists, including the Berlin-based guitarist Nishad Pandey in Tinctures and a cross-cultural trio known as Mystik Vibes with percussionist Muthu Kumar and flutist Amith Nadig. Mahajan has also worked as a piano teacher at Aamod Center of Liberal Arts, a performer/presenter at TEDx Bangalore, and a keyboardist at MTV Coke Studio India.
