Irfan Arif is a biotechnology scientist with a diverse background in enzyme engineering, cloning, and protein expression. He completed his PhD in Biotechnology at the University of Groningen, where he discovered novel enzymes and used directed evolution techniques to create thermostable and organic solvent tolerant enzymes. Irfan has worked in varied roles, including Quality Control and Quality Assurance at Merck and GlaxoSmithKline Pharma, and as a Research Fellow at Groningen. In his current role, Irfan is developing biological treatment plans for industrial waste waters and creating biodegradation strategies for spent metalworking fluids. He is a skilled researcher who is experienced in conducting independent projects as well as working collaboratively with others. Irfan is also interested in teaching and has enjoyed various teaching roles throughout his career.
