David Wang is a rising college freshman with a keen interest in both medicine and journalism. He is a highly accomplished individual with a strong background in various academic and extracurricular activities.
In academics, David has excelled as a member of his school's SciOly A team, Science Bowl team, and achieved national recognition by being in the Top 50 of the USA Biology Olympiad.
David is also a skilled fencer, having achieved success at the varsity level, including being part of the 1st Foil Team County and Counties Champion.
In the field of journalism, David has gained valuable experience and accolades. He has been a student journalist at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University's Newsroom by the Bay and NYU Urban Journalism Workshop. Furthermore, he has served in editorial roles such as Op-Ed Section Editor, Managing Editor/Editorial Board, and currently holds the position of Editor-in-Chief at Great Neck South High's official newspaper, The Southerner, as well as at Great Neck South Middle's official newspaper, Middleview.
David is an active member of the Asian American Journalists' Association (AAJA) and has been recognized with the NCTE Achievement Awards in Writing nomination. His professional experience includes roles such as Director Of Public Relations and Press and Media Coordinator at TeenHacks LI, Student Journalist at Stony Brook University, and Summer Research Intern at the Institute for Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Lasers.
