David Walton
David Walton is the Chief Executive Officer of T1D Exchange, a population health organization focused on improving care for people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).12 He assumed the role of permanent CEO in November 2019 after serving as interim CEO since April 2019.1 Walton has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with more than half of that time spent in diabetes-related commercial leadership positions.2
Walton has personal experience with T1D, having lived with the condition for over 24 years, and also has a nephew with the disease.13 This personal connection drives his commitment to improving the standard of care for those living with T1D.2
Prior to joining T1D Exchange, Walton served as Chief Commercial Officer of QuiO, a remote monitoring digital health start-up focused on improving care plan adherence and outcomes for people with diabetes and other chronic conditions.1 Throughout his career, he has helped launch 10 innovative medtech products in glucose monitoring, insulin delivery, and digital health companies.2
Walton holds a BA in Psychology from Princeton University and an MBA in Healthcare Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.3 He has also served as President of the Wharton Healthcare Alumni Association.3
