David Vernon
David Vernon is a prominent senior researcher at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in University of Bremen, with a wealth of experience and knowledge on cognitive robotics. He has spent over 40 years of his career in top-notch institutions around the world, including Carnegie Mellon University in Rwanda, the Technical University of Munich, and Trinity College Dublin. Vernon has a passion for designing and developing cognition-enabled robots that can perform everyday activities. To achieve this, he utilizes the CRAM cognitive architecture and KnowRob knowledge base. His research interests are in functional areas such as cognitive architectures, simulated internal modeling, memory models, and autonomous self-organizing systems. He is a co-chair of the new IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Technical Committee on Cognitive Robotics and proud recipient of the 2017 RAS Most Active Technical Committee Award. Teaching is a significant part of Vernon's experience, and his courses' notes are available on his website. A Ph.D. graduate from Trinity College Dublin, Vernon is an outstanding professional who has contributed significantly to cognitive robotics.
