    David Saltz is an accomplished academic professional, serving as the Head of the Department of Theatre and Film Studies at the University of Georgia and the Executive Director of Ideas for Creative Exploration (ICE).

    With expertise in modern drama, performance theory, the philosophy of art, and directing, Dr. Saltz is renowned for his research on the intersection of live performance and digital media.

    As Principal Investigator of Virtual Vaudeville, a project funded by the National Science Foundation, he delved into simulating nineteenth-century vaudeville performances on computers.

    Having established the Interactive Performance Laboratory at UGA, Dr. Saltz is a pioneer in integrating computer technology into his directorial work and teaching methods.

    His contributions extend to directing productions featuring real-time interactive digital media and designing interactive sculptural installations displayed across the nation.

    A prolific writer, Dr. Saltz has published numerous articles in reputable journals and coedited the book 'Staging Philosophy: Intersections between Theatre, Performance and Philosophy'.

    Recognized for his teaching excellence with a Sandy Beaver Special Teaching Award in 2008, he has also held leadership roles in academic organizations such as the Association for Theatre in Higher Education and Theatre Journal.

    Prior to his current positions in Georgia, Dr. Saltz imparted his knowledge at institutions like the State University of New York at Stony Brook and The College of William and Mary.

    Dr. Saltz pursued his academic journey with a B.A. in Psychology with Theatre Studies from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Drama from Stanford.
