David Ragsdale

David Ragsdale, a distinguished professional with a strong background in entomology, has held significant leadership roles in academic and research institutions.

With experience as Department Head at the University of Minnesota and Texas A&M University, he transitioned to central administration, where he oversees 13 Research and Extension Centers in Texas.

Currently, David Ragsdale plays a pivotal role at AgriLife Research (part of Texas A&M University), managing a substantial research budget of over $225 million annually.

He leads the Corporate Engagement and Research Support unit and provides strategic direction for key research facilities, including the genome sequencing center, infectious animal disease institute, and the Texas Institute for Genomic Medicine.

In his position, he supervises a large team of faculty, outstate faculty, and support scientists, ensuring effective governance and scientific excellence at the institution.

David Ragsdale's previous roles include serving as the Associate Director of AgriLife Research at Texas A&M and as a Professor and Department Head at the same institution.
