David Hook

David Hook is a notable figure in the field of software engineering and cryptography, primarily recognized for his role as the Director at Crypto Workshop, a position he held from October 2012 to June 2021. During his tenure, he focused on consulting and support for the Bouncy Castle Cryptography APIs and was instrumental in developing a MixNet for anonymous electronic voting, utilizing advanced cryptographic techniques such as Elliptic Curve encryption and threshold encryption. He also played a key role in achieving FIPS 140-2 certification for the Bouncy Castle APIs, ensuring their compliance with security standards.124

After his time at Crypto Workshop, David transitioned to Keyfactor, where he currently serves as the VP of Software Engineering, continuing his work on cryptographic APIs and secure systems.14 His extensive experience spans over three decades, beginning in the mid-1980s with IT and open-source projects, and he has been a founding member of the Legion of the Bouncy Castle project since 2000, which provides lightweight cryptography APIs.23

In terms of education, David holds a Master of Applied Science in Computer Engineering, along with degrees in Computer Science and Philosophy, which underpin his technical expertise and innovative contributions to the field of cryptography.12
