    David Hoey

Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin

David Hoey is an Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin, with a background in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering.

His research focuses on integrating engineering mechanics to understand the molecular basis of orthopaedic physiology and diseases.

Through his lab's work, novel mechanisms in bone response to biophysical stimuli have been discovered, particularly in mesenchymal stem cell contributions to bone formation and repair.

David Hoey's research has the potential to develop new orthobiologics and biomaterials for treating orthopaedic conditions like osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechanical and Manufacturing, both from Trinity College Dublin.

Prior to his current position, he served as a Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Limerick and held Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Columbia University.
