David Grove

David Grove is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in investment banking and corporate law, specializing in M&A, private capital raising, and IPOs within the tech industry.

As the founder of Vaquero Capital, David leverages his 35 years of transactional experience to offer a fresh approach to assisting private companies in navigating transformative transactions.

Throughout his career, David has been involved in over 33 transactions with a focus on PE/ VC backed companies and founder-led businesses, leading to over $1B in liquidity for his clients.

David's expertise extends to handling approximately 35 IPOs, follow-on equity offerings, over 100 transactions, and M&A deals exceeding $11B in value, including debt transactions totaling over $6B.

Notable clients David has served include companies like Luxury Retreats (acquired by AirBnB), StreetEasy (acquired by Zillow), HomeAway, Zillow, Brightcove, HP, and many more, alongside top private equity firms such as Insight Partners, TCV, KKR, and Francisco Partners.

His educational background includes a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Communications from Oregon State University.

Prior to founding Vaquero Capital, David held key roles at top firms like Cowen, Bank of America, Pacific Crest Securities, Needham & Company, and SG Cowen & Co., amassing a wealth of experience and industry knowledge.

Outside of work, David enjoys skiing on slopes like Mt Bachelor, Whistler, and Alpine, playing golf on green fields in California and Oregon, as well as cooking, hosting gatherings, and spending quality time with friends.
