Nobody cares you used AI for your resume. 🤖 They care about this instead:
Let's get real about AI in your job search.
People don't care that you used AI to write your resume or find jobs. They care that it LOOKS like you didn't put in any effort. 💡
We have an innate allergy to laziness. But we also have an innate appreciation for effort.
The difference? How you use the tool.
Here's how to use AI the RIGHT way:
1️⃣ AI is your starting point, not your finish line Generate ideas, then personalize them. Every output needs YOUR unique perspective.
2️⃣ Layer in specific details AI gives structure. You add substance. Include metrics, context, and achievements only YOU know.
3️⃣ Edit like your career depends on it Because it does. Read every line aloud. Does it sound like YOU? If not, rewrite it.
4️⃣ Use AI to enhance, not replace ✅ Use AI to overcome writer's block ✅ Use AI to check grammar and clarity ❌ Don't copy-paste without customization ❌ Don't let generic language represent you
5️⃣ Show your homework Research the company. Reference their values. Connect your experience to their needs. AI can't do this—only you can.
The secret? Make it impossible to tell you used AI.
Not because you're hiding it. But because you've added so much value that the AI becomes invisible.
Your effort should shine through every word. Your personality should leap off the page. Your research should be evident in every line.
AI is a power tool, not a magic wand. 🛠️ Use it to amplify your effort, not replace it.

Something I keep seeing when it comes to the use or the dissuasion of use of AI is this assumption that you're going to lie or misuse it. And I think we need to be careful with that with new technologies. Sure, they make misbehavior a little easier sometimes, but the automatic assumption that those using the latest technology are going to misbehave is a big mistake and we should try hard not to use that as a counterpoint to using the latest tooling
