David Durkee CSM, CSPO, SSM

David Durkee, an experienced IT and technology professional, has transitioned into Agile Process Control, becoming a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), and SAFe 5.0 SSM. With a career in engineering, David found that his empathetic and process-oriented nature was best suited to the softer skills needed as a Scrum Master. As a Scrum Master, David is responsible for managing relationships and team motivation, coaching and encouraging teams on openness, respect, courage, commitment, and focus. David helps teams do accurate estimation and planning for staffing changes, technical debt, and handling of software defects while keeping a consistent velocity. David is an active participant in the professional Agile community and participates in monthly Agile SoCal meetings and accredited training sessions. He also volunteers with 5Saturdays.org, facilitating training for underserved high school students in Lean Manufacturing, Coding, and Agile practices to prepare them for future careers in software and hardware development.

David's primary motivation comes from the Servant/Leader role of a Scrum Master, mentoring, teaching and coaching, and resolving issues that slow a team down. David enjoys helping teams be successful and earn credit for their hard work. He is also passionate about photography and strives to get the "perfect shot" through the creative process, rather than editing.

David's education includes Sales Trainer at XEROX Professional Sales Skills III, Project Manager at American Management Association, and Criminal Justice at Green River Community College. He has held numerous roles throughout his career, including Sr. Scrum Master at SeneGence International, Scrum Master at Zigzy, Scrum Product Owner, Consultant, and Agileist at Scrum Adventures LLC, and IT Manager at IDsmart, LLC, among others.
