David Colt

David Colt is a Partner at Natural Gas Partners (NGP), having joined the firm in 2021.1 He focuses on energy transition sourcing and execution, while also assisting active portfolio companies.1 NGP hired Colt to focus exclusively on energy transition investing through NGP ETP, the firm’s energy transition platform.23

Before joining NGP, Colt was a Principal with CPP Investments, where he developed and executed a late-stage venture and growth equity investment strategy in energy transition.123 Prior to CPP Investments, he was the Vice President of Corporate Development and Finance for ChargePoint, an electric vehicle charging company.123 Colt graduated from Reed College with a degree in Economics.123

NGP is a private equity firm founded in 1988 with over $20 billion in cumulative equity commitments for strategic investments in the energy sector.23 In 2020, NGP launched NGP ETP to pursue opportunities arising from the technology transformation of global energy markets.2
