David Bassendine

David Bassendine is a versatile freelance web architect and developer with a strong focus on data science, leveraging his extensive experience in Drupal and proficiency in various web technologies and programming languages.

With a background in Earth and Environmental Science, David is dedicated to utilizing data science and web technology to raise awareness and understanding of intricate environmental systems and associated risks.

Having worked collaboratively in small teams and independently with remote teams and clients, David adeptly adapts to diverse work environments by embracing new tools, skills, and methodologies.

David excels in web backend technologies such as PHP, Drupal, Apache, MySQL, and Linux (LAMP), alongside web frontend languages like HTML5, CSS3, JS, jQuery, and Bootstrap. He is also proficient in data manipulation using R, Python, SQLite, qGIS/GRASS, OpenLayers, and Leaflet, with expertise in Agile project management, feature design, and Scrum.

David holds a degree in Environment Information Management Institute from The University of New Mexico and a BSc (Hons) 2:1 in Natural Science from The Open University.

He is the Founder of Blue Dot Lab and has previously served as a Senior Drupal Developer at Mediacurrent, Freelance Web Developer at Torchbox, Web Developer at Torchbox, and Co-founder and Web Developer at Carbon Rationing Action Groups.
