David Barnett

Dr. David W. Barnett is the Provost & Vice President (Academic) at Lakehead University.12 He has held this position since January 2020.3 Dr. Barnett received his D.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with a certificate in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University, St. Louis, an MSc degree from the University of Washington, and a BSc degree from Bradley University, both in Electrical Engineering.2

Before becoming Provost, Dr. Barnett served as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University, joining in July 2012.2 His research interests include electrophysiology, biomedical signal processing, pattern classification, system identification, electromagnetic modeling, and biomedical instrumentation.1

As Provost and Vice-President (Academic), Dr. Barnett serves as Lakehead University's Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Academic Officer (CAO). He leads the direction of Lakehead's academic mission and priorities, academic decision-making processes, and promotes institution-wide collegiality and cooperation.2
