Born in 1957 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Agnew was raised in Toronto.2 He began his career as a sports reporter for the Toronto Sun at the age of 15.2 Agnew graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a gold medal in political science.2
