Dave Russell

Dave Russell is the Senior Vice President and Head of Strategy at Veeam Software, a position he has held since April 2024. He initially joined Veeam in May 2018 as Vice President of Enterprise Strategy. In his current role, Russell is responsible for driving Veeam's vision for products and services, as well as overseeing research and community engagement programs on a global scale.2

With over 35 years of experience in the storage industry, Russell has a robust background in technology and strategy. Prior to his tenure at Veeam, he served as Vice President and Distinguished Analyst at Gartner, where he focused on storage strategies and technologies, particularly in backup and recovery solutions. He was also the lead author of the Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup & Recovery Solutions from 2005 to 2018. Before his time at Gartner, Russell worked at IBM for more than 15 years, contributing to storage research and development, and managing product development and strategy teams.12

Russell's expertise in analyzing market trends and vendor strategies has positioned him as a key figure in the industry, and he is known for his ability to interpret complex data and drive strategic initiatives within Veeam.1
