I am currently working as the Head of Facilities & Estates for Anglian water. I am responsible for the strategic management of the corporate estate. My main focus has been to transform the working environment to support hybrid working. I have also led the rationalisation of the supply chain activities, to align the FM activities across the corporate and operational estate. I am the subject matter expert for Facilities and act as the board advisor.

I worked as the Account Director for Optimum Group with responsibility for the TFM delivery to the Close Brothers Account. This was the first TFM account that Optimum delivered. I was also involved in providing support and advice to the business on growing our TFM delivery.

Reporting into the sector director I had commercial accountability for planning, organising and directing all facility services on one of the global contracts. In my most recent post I was the lead for the Heineken contract and reported to the global director for Heineken. Previously I worked as the key account manager/director for the Virgin Media and Anglian Water accounts. I have experience of managing P&L’s in excess £10M which includes all TFM and project related services. As part of my role, I had overall responsibility for the performance of the account and ownership of the agreed service levels.

I have experience of managing critical environments and data centres. I ensured all aspects of critical engineering and technical requirements across the client portfolio of critical sites were delivered through a structure of robust processes, procedures and associated policies, as aligned with ISS strategic technical delivery. I also provided technical support to the customer ensuring all technical standards, including engineering excellence was at the forefront of the engineering delivery, through either processes or structured accountability. I also have experiencing of working with the bid team on new business proposals and have previously managed the mobilisation with a number of new contracts.

Key Account Manager

In May 2013 I was promoted to the position of property asset manager at South Holland District Council. I retained all the existing duties of my previous role and I also gained responsibility for all of the planned maintenance of the council’s housing stock. I was responsible for a team of 46 and had a budget responsibility of £11Million.

Working as the general manager I was responsible for the repairs and maintenance of 4000 council homes for South Holland District Council. I managed a team of 35 people, including supervisors, administration staff, building inspectors and a range of tradesmen. I ensured all our performance measures were met and controlled the annual £3 million budget. I had overall responsibility for HR, H&S, performance management, training, finance and compliance. I achieved annual savings in excess of £200K, improved productivity by 30% and introduced a new health and safety orientated culture.

Working as the Property Manager for the BGL group, I looked after all the property requirements for 3 sites in the Peterborough area. This was a total facilities management contract that was managed in house by the client. I also managed additional projects such as M&E upgrades, refurbishments, contract tendering and space planning.

I changed the roles within the team to deliver a more customer focused service. This assisted me to improve the performance and customer satisfaction rates whilst decreasing our expenditure on external contractors. I also worked with the UK Property Management team to improve compliance with recent legislation. This included completing a review of our policies and procedures which led to the implementation of new procedures, such as water testing regimes, electrical testing regimes and new environmental practices.

Working for ESS on the BMW Park Lane contract. I looked after all the Facilities and M & E for the BMW Park Lane group across their 5 sites. This was a total facilities management contract. I also managed additional projects, such as converting an old Porsche showroom for BMW. I also took responsibility for the H&S training and management of all the sites. 

I assisted the FM to provide the following services: Driver Services, M & E, Switchboard, Front of House, Cleaning, Helpdesk and Security. We provided these services to all five of BMW Park Lanes sites, which involved 79 employees. I deputised in the absence of the FM and took primary responsibility for M & E, Security and Cleaning.

I worked for Lands End Direct Merchants as a senior facilities engineer. I oversaw building management including, looking after the fabric, mechanical and electrical requirements. I was responsible for planning and implementing a PPM system and bringing outsourced maintenance contracts back in house.

I supervised a team of three engineers who carried out the planned and reactive maintenance.  I assisted with the appraisals of my engineering team. It was my role to support them in achieving their objectives and reviewing their progress. 

In January 2005 I was involved with the installation of a new stand by generator system. The generator was installed on time and within budget. Over the course of the year, I was involved in the negotiations for the installation of a new building management system to improve energy efficiency.

Senior Facilities Engineer

I trained as a marine engineering officer with BP Shipping. On completion of my training, I continued to work for BP for a year. After this I worked for a shipping agency that provided me with long-term contracts working for companies such as Exxon Mobil and Shell.

Whilst working as a marine engineer my duties consisted of the daily running of a merchant vessels engine room space. I was responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the main propulsion, boilers, air conditioning, power generation and all other ancillary services. I was involved in maintaining all the machinery onboard each vessel. This would range from doing oil changes on an air compressor to carrying out a twelve-thousand-hour major overhaul of the main engine pistons and cylinders. 

Health and Safety was a part of everyday life on board an oil tanker. I was involved in safety meetings to ensure permit to work and risk assessment forms were being used effectively. I would carry out safety inspections and risk assessments weekly to help keep the number of accidents to a minimum. Once I had gained enough experience, I was fortunate enough to become a mentor to new engineers who have since gone on to serve as engineering officers.
