Daniel Schmidt

Daniel Schmidt is a prominent figure in the hunting community, currently serving as the Vice President at Deer & Deer Hunting, where he has been a key contributor for over 30 years. He holds the position of editor-in-chief of the magazine and is also the host of the Deer & Deer Hunting television show on the Pursuit Channel, as well as the popular Deer Talk Now podcast, which has produced over 650 episodes since its launch in 2011.124

Schmidt's background includes a degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, which he earned in 1991. Before joining Deer & Deer Hunting, he spent several years in newspaper journalism, writing an award-winning outdoor column for multiple publications in southeast Wisconsin.1 His extensive experience includes hunting deer across 39 states and four Canadian provinces, with a personal tally of over 400 whitetails harvested throughout his lifetime. His expertise encompasses various aspects of deer management and hunting tactics, making him a respected authority in the field.12
