Daniel Ostrach is an experienced in-house counsel specializing in the financial services industry, particularly in supporting fintech and bank relationships. As the Director and Counsel of American Express, he provides strategic and solution-oriented legal and business advice. His expertise lies in complex commercial drafting, litigation and arbitration, privacy and data security, and intellectual property. Ostrach studied History and East Asian Studies (Japan Focus) for his undergraduate degree at Connecticut College and completed his Law degree at Boston College Law School.
Ostrach's early career involved working as an Assistant Language Teacher in the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET), where he gained experience living and working abroad. He has also interned at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School as a Citizen Media Law Project Intern. With his experience covering data privacy and intellectual property, he also previously worked as an Associate Legal Writer and an Associate Editor at Thomson Reuters. Before joining American Express, Ostrach also worked at Scott & Bush Ltd. and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey as an Associate.
