Daniel Derksen-Staats is a highly experienced iOS developer whose passion for creating innovative mobile applications has driven his career. He co-founded Desfici, a mobile development company, while studying Computational Sciences Engineering and Computer Software Engineering at the University of Valencia. Since then, he has worked at various startups and large organizations including Bananity, MusicQubed, BBC, and Skyscanner, where he built cutting-edge apps for the MTV Trax music app, BBC News, and more. Currently, he holds the position of Software Engineer - iOS at Spotify.
In addition to his impressive career achievements, Daniel is also a vocal advocate for accessibility in mobile app development. He often shares his knowledge around accessibility in talks such as AltConf, SwiftFest, or #A11yTO Conf as well as in his book, “Developing Accessible iOS Apps”. He has also made it his aim to infuse accessibility into the teams he works with.
Daniel is a graduate of the University of Valencia where he studied Computational Sciences Engineering and Computer Software Engineering. He also completed a degree in Computer Science BSc at the University of Hertfordshire.
