- Project lead for the proximal flow sensor option for the model 840 ventilator:
        
- Worked with a team on circuit design and generation of design verification tests for options for medical device critical care products. 

-LabVIEW programming to upgrade an existing system (ARTS – “Accuracy and Response Test System”) to allow for improved measurement and reporting of results.

-Worked with outside and inside legal and technical personnel in contract development.

- Designed and conducted experiments to determine root causes of critical issues relating to flow measurement. 

- Led small software teams and hardware teams to resolve problems.

- Created and produced a module for the model 840 ventilator to allow it to display its screens to large audiences.

- Developed LabVIEW programming to capture all background XML data produced by a new ventilator product in real-time. Used to analyze and determine appropriate system parameters.

- Developed improved hot wire flow sensor technology for applications in pulmonary function testing (PFT). 

- Design and development of lung simulation technology for validation of PFT devices.

- Participated in team to improve CO2 sensor design: identified problem areas and interfaced with manufacturing personnel leading to the production of sensors with increased reliability.

- LabVIEW programming of automated fixtures to test medical device components (flow sensors, flow control valves, CO2 sensors, gas blenders) & automated flow sensor calibration fixtures.  

- Created database for Manufacturing operations to track yields and help identify root causes of problems. Provided a database tool for Engineering operations to monitor product testing and yield throughout the manufacturing process.

- ￼Constructed special instrumentation to capture rare events in medical devices.

- Developed prototype of instrumentation used for development and testing of new ventilator architectures and products.

Major Projects:

OntoCHROM 4-Channel SFC Purification System:
Hardware and software architecture development. Managed development of the electronics and software for a high throughput supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) purification system. System provided real-time feedback from a mass-spectrometer and provided comprehensive data logging and reporting. Two systems were built that were used to purify Ontogen compound libraries and for methods development. This led to design of an open-access SFC single channel system. 

OntoBLOCK:
Developed electronic hardware, user interface, software and embedded firmware for 3 high throughput instruments used for drug discovery. This technology was made available to a major German pharmaceutical company as part of a $41 million collaboration contract.

Electronics & software development, integration and customization:
Developed real-time PC interfaces for Leco time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer; custom fraction collection robots, liquid handling robots (Tecan &Gilson) custom micro sample valve, pumps, motion control, fluid regulators, and sensors. Development of high-voltage ionization sources, multi-channel UV spectrometer, and other biotechnology devices. These systems operated in real-time and integrated with ORACLE database.
