Dan Dorsch
Community Builder and Social Innovator
Dan Dorsch is a highly accomplished engineer and inventor who has gained considerable experience in machine design, manufacturing, robotics and control systems, and system engineering. Dan graduated from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Mechanical Engineering.
In 2014, Dan became a Mechanical Engineering PhD candidate at MIT and worked as a Chief Engineer and Project Manager at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, developing cutting-edge underwater vehicle hybrid power systems. He also worked as a Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineering Consultant at Global Engineering and Research Laboratory – MIT. Formerly an Intern at GE Aviation, Dan later became a Visionary and Co-Founder at MIT MakerWorks Student Innovation Space. Along with his engineering projects, Dan founded a new Makerspace on campus, where he facilitated innovation among fellow students.
Currently, Dan is the Director of Engineering, Research and Development at Solar Service. With an unrelenting drive toward innovation and excellence, Dan's research interests lie in designing high-performance hybrid transmissions. His experience as an Aero-Structures Engineer at MIT Hyperloop makes him well-versed in dealing with intricate designs, parts, and materials, presenting impressive results.
