Dan Asare-Kyei is a Geo-information scientist and agricultural economist with a diverse professional background spanning international development, entrepreneurship, and scientific research. He is passionate about leveraging technology to address real-life challenges faced by small-scale farmers, showcasing a unique ability to connect with the agricultural community. As the founder of Eucharia Farms Ltd., Dan has actively promoted the use of ICT in Africa's smallholder agriculture, advocating for innovation in the sector. His expertise includes ICT for agriculture and development, agribusiness, GIS, remote sensing, disaster risk reduction, vulnerability and risk assessment, and natural hazard mapping.
In his academic journey, Dan pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture at the United Nations University-Institute for Human Security and Environment. He also holds Master's degrees in GIS for natural resource management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology and in GIS and remote sensing (Geo-information science) from the University of Twente, Netherlands. His undergraduate studies focused on Agricultural Economics at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
Throughout his career, Dan has held various positions, including Chief Executive Officer at Esoko, Founder of Adinkra Frontiers Limited, and roles at prominent organizations like TechnoServe Inc, ACDI/VOCA, USAID/TIPCEE, and ADRA Ghana. Besides, he has been a Fellow at the United Nations University - EHS, actively contributing to research in disaster risk reduction, climate risk, and vulnerability assessment in rural communities. He has also showcased groundbreaking research in post-harvest management of perishables utilizing advanced remote sensing techniques, with a focus on West Africa.
