Manager of the work package 7 of the ModComp European Project from the Horizon 2020, related to the comparison and study of different components and technologies in order to obtain lighter, cheaper and more environmentally friendly products, in the aviation and other sectors (such as cars, bikes, boats, etc.).I completed many feasibility studies for the multiple technologies, consisting on the modification of composite materials with nano-particles using different cutting-edge procedures. Moreover, I gave economical support to the feasibility of these technologies.I also designed multiple tools to ease the information exchange between the partners, giving strong results that resulted in normalized and easy-to-compare data.

Life Cycle & Cost Control Engineer - ModComp Horizon 2020

Manager of the work package 5 in the HLFC-WIN project, consisting on reaching the economical feasibility of the technology and checking that the HLFC system reaches the economical and environmental objectives, from the manufacturer's point of view. I completed a full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the Hybrid Laminar Flow Control technology applied into the leading edge of a commercial aircraft. I obtained a cost estimation method for early stages in engineering projects, extrapolable to any technology applied to airplanes. Among others, these areas were evaluated: R&D, manufacture, assembly, logistics, operation and maintenance.I worked hand to hand with the manufacturing facilities. I analyzed processes related to aluminium, titanium and composites, together with the assembly procedures. I reached a complete understanding of the RTM, laser micro-drilling or machining, among others. I developed multiple tools with Excel and Visual Basic to confirm the feasibility of the technology.

Project Management and Life Cycle Cost Control Engineer in R&D

I started to develop the Wing's Digital Mock-Up (DMU) of the experimental plane XRF1 in which the HLFC Technology would be mounted, using the Surface Design and Part Design modules of CATIA V5, completing the Product Structure of the wing at the same time.I reached a complete understanding of the components and systems held into the wing of any commercial aircraft. I designed, made FEM analysis and many feasibility studies of multiple manufacturing demonstrators. I integrated multiple non-common components into the wing, among which are:- Leading Edge Krueger Flap.- Electromagnetic WIPS anti-ice system.- Composite and micro-drilled titanium substructure, with 3 air chambers contained providing independent pressure differentials. - Compressor for the air-suction, together with the corresponding suction rib.

Research & Development Intern - HLFC-WIN CleanSky2

Selected to take part in the new-generation of internship students at the R&D offices of Aernnova Engineering Madrid (Leader company in the aero-structures sector in Spain, also, TIER-1 manufacturer and with global engineering programs). Worked as a Technical Assistant (25 h per week) while studying my full-time BSc.I worked in the integration of the HLFC (Hybrid Laminar Flow Control) technology into the HTP of the Airbus A350 commercial airplane. At the same time, I started to study the manufacturing process of the HTP, reaching a complete understanding of all the processes implied. I developed the design principles and the manufacturing drawings of the full-scale test demonstrators of the Leading Edge nº4 of the HTP. I understood perfectly the manufacturing tolerances, the required testing and all the documentation.I obtained great skills with the composite module of CATIA V5, having to develop many fiber curvature studies. These studies where held into little demonstrator with complex omega-shaped surfaces. I also designed and made feasibility studies for those components.
