Raul Polit-Casillas
Raul Polit-Casillas is a rising star in the field of robotics and engineering, with a focus on soft robotics. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2018, where he developed a new class of soft robots capable of self-morphing in response to their environment. Polit-Casillas has received numerous accolades for his work on soft robotics, including being named to MIT Technology Review's 35 Innovators Under 35 in 2019.
After completing his PhD, Polit-Casillas worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich), where he continued to advance the field of soft robotics. In his current role as a Research Scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Polit-Casillas is working on developing soft robotic systems that can be used in space exploration.
Polit-Casillas is an expert in soft robotics, with a deep understanding of materials science, mechanics, and control systems. He has published numerous research articles in leading academic journals, and his work has been featured in popular media outlets such as Forbes, Wired, and National Geographic. As a Hispanic engineer, he also serves as a role model and advocate for underrepresented groups in STEM fields.
