Luz Varela is a seasoned communications professional with over 15 years of experience across the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Originally from Mexico City, Luz's fluency in Spanish has been a valuable asset throughout her career as she's managed communications programs for AstraZeneca, implemented customer communications initiatives for American Airlines, and served as a corporate spokesperson for AT&T.

Most recently, Luz led communications strategies at the American Heart Association to create a culture of health among under-resourced communities. Prior to that, she oversaw partnerships with national organizations to propel the Army’s recruiting objectives while leading media relations and content creation for the U.S. Army.

Luz has also driven multicultural PR efforts to increase brand awareness among multicultural consumers at Target Corporation, in addition to managing communications programs for other prestigious companies. Luz's educational background includes a Master of Journalism from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor's in Business Administration in Management from Northwood University.
