Guenther Koehne
Dr. Guenther Koehne is an internationally recognized cancer specialist known for his expertise in blood and marrow transplantation and hematologic oncology.
He previously served as the Medical Director of the Cytotherapy Laboratory at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he pioneered T cell depletion techniques for donor stem cell products.
Dr. Koehne's clinical focus includes treating patients with hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, and multiple myeloma.
As a principal investigator, he leads clinical trials evaluating T cell-depleted transplants in high-risk and relapsed multiple myeloma patients.
His research efforts concentrate on reducing viral complications and disease recurrence post-allogeneic stem cell transplants. He is renowned for developing adoptive immunotherapy using donor-derived immune cells to address these complications.
Recently appointed as Professor & Chairman of the Department of Translational Medicine at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University, Dr. Koehne continues to make significant contributions to the field of hematology.
