Lead trainer for new equipment training for armored personnel carriers delivered to African Union Forces in Somalia under the Department of State’s AFRICAP program. Responsible for developing the curriculum and programs of instruction for training. Lead trainer for 90 African Union soldiers from 3 contributing states for basic operator training and an additional 12 soldier-students for basic and advanced maintenance training; responsible for supervising at least 3 other trainers on site. Training will be conducted in Djibouti and Somalia in March-May 2014.

Responsible for providing expertise on complex security operations, liaising with thought leaders in government and think tanks, and consulting to government and non-government organizations to deliver practical concepts and strategies.  Primary responsibilities were planning, designing, executing, and facilitating workshops and exercises for the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Law Enforcement Capabilities Project. Collected and analyzed the results of these events and combined with extensive field and desktop research and operational assessments of police assistance programs to draft papers focused on practical interagency solutions for U.S. Government law enforcement on international operations.  Coauthored the following papers in support of this project: Lessons Learned from U.S. Government Law Enforcement in International Operations by the U.S. Army War College’s Strategic Studies Institute (sponsored by the Peace Keeping and Stability Operations Institute), Marine Corps Interim Publication 3-34.02 (Commander's Guide to Law Enforcement Professional Employment), the unpublished capstone doctrine for the Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program, and an internal report for the Office of the Secretary of Defense on considerations for raising and employing a notional federal Stability Police Unit.

Consulted in the company's Foreign Affairs and International Institutions practice.  Moderated the &quot;Negotiations in Non-permissive Environments&quot; at the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Service Institute for the Iraq Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) course.  Provided other consulting services to other bureaus of the Department of State, primarily the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and the Bureau of Consular Affairs through the preparation and presentation of analysis, papers, and briefings.  Served as coordinator for BearingPoint's Defense, Diplomacy, and Development (D3) Initiative, an internal project.  Coordinated cross-segment activities in support of interagency integration offerings and provided advice on corporate strategy development.

BearingPoint, Inc (later Deloitte Consulting, LLC)

Planned all training and combat operations for the Brigade Combat Team consisting of 3800 Soldiers, Sailors, and civilians in six battalions.  Responsible for chairing planning sessions, developing courses of action, schemes of maneuver, and briefing products for each counterinsurgency operation.  Briefed numerous general officers on plans and created products for the Brigade commander to brief the Multinational Corps - Iraq and Multinational Forces - Iraq commanders on Brigade operations.

Planned and integrated numerous military and multi-agency Brigade-level counterinsurgency operations as part of the Operation Iraqi Freedom V surge.  Developed the tactical maneuver plan with national-level fires and intelligence support to remove the last Al Qaida in Iraq safe-haven in the areas surrounding Baghdad.  Coordinated and planned the follow-on reconstruction support provided by civilian U.S. Government agencies (predominantly through an embedded PRT) and Iraqi Security Forces to ensure that their operations were integrated into the brigade's maneuver plan to solidify tactical gains.

U.S. Army

Brigade Planner

Equivalent to a Human Resources Director, responsible for all personnel and administrative actions for the 600 Soldiers in the Squadron to include processing all awards and evaluations.  Successfully out-processed over 200 Soldiers out of the Squadron following an Operation Iraqi Freedom III deployment.  All Soldiers departed with evaluations and awards.  Managed the distribution of personnel while standing down one 120-man troop and activating another.  As lead officer on all official Squadron activities, planned and executed a formal Squadron Ball for 900 personnel and a budget of 40 thousand dollars.

Squadron Adjutant

Responsible for all logistics and maintenance operations within a heavy cavalry troop, consisting of nine M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tanks, fourteen M3A2 Bradley Cavalry Fighting Vehicles, and over fifteen other wheeled and tracked vehicles and 130 personnel.  Acted as the troop commander in his absence.  Deployed the troop and all equipment to Baghdad, Iraq in January 2005 for a year-long deployment conducting combat operations in the Rusafa and Medain districts.  Supervised security operations in the Medain district during two nation-wide elections, resulting in no insurgent attacks on polling sites in assigned area.  Commanded the troop for over two months during a change in battle space.  Coordinated operations with Iraqi Security Forces and liaised with the local Iraqi Government to increase their ability to govern.

Cavalry Troop Executive Officer

Responsible for leading 16 Soldiers and four M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tanks, valued in excess of 16 million dollars, during reconnaissance and security operations.  Assumed platoon leadership on the eve of Operation Iraqi Freedom and led it through the invasion of Iraq as part of the forward-most unit in the Coalition.  Fought in at least four major battles during the invasion with no injuries to any member of the platoon while decisively defeating the enemy.  Integral in the isolation of Baghdad, Iraq while engaging units from the Iraq Republican Guard’s armored forces. This battle ensured the success of Coalition Forces in removing the regime from power.  Conducted support and stability operations after the cessation of major combat operations in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport and Balad, Iraq, quelling the growing insurgencies in those areas.
