Tram Nguyen is a multi-talented professional and social justice advocate with a passion for creating positive change in communities. She is the Co-Executive Director at New Virginia Majority (NVM), where she helps engage and mobilize voters of color on social and economic justice issues. Her extensive work on democracy, immigrants’ rights, criminal justice, climate change, and economic opportunity explores the intersections of racial, social and economic justice. Tram has been instrumental in helping vulnerable populations achieve significant victories, such as expanding access to quality and affordable health care, increasing transparency in community policing initiatives, and achieving in-state college tuition for immigrant youth in Virginia.

Before joining NVM, Tram was involved in various community and advocacy initiatives that helped her hone her skills in emergency preparedness and response, project coordination, and health advising. As a Minority Health Advisor at Virginia Department of Health, she helped develop health strategies to support minority groups. As a Consultant and Emergency Preparedness/Response Director at BPSOS, she assisted Vietnamese immigrants in the Gulf Coast region who were affected by Hurricane Katrina by providing language-appropriate services and empowering immigrant families to self-advocate for the sustainable redevelopment of their communities and businesses.

Tram holds a degree in Economics and Spanish from Barnard College, and she is an alumna of the NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service as a 2011 Lead the Way Fellow and a 2012 Executive Fellow at the Center for Progressive Leadership. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation, whose mission is to invest in solutions that build equitable communities.
