Vaibhav Bhawsar is an accomplished designer and technologist with a passion for using computational media, interactive technologies, and data to create powerful ways of engaging with the world. With a master's degree from New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program and a professional diploma from Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology, Vaibhav has worked with an impressive range of organizations, including Ushahidi, Yahoo!, UNESCO, and WWF.
As the Design and Technology Director at Independent, Visiting Faculty at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, and Ford Foundation & MDF Design & Technology Fellow at Global Voices Online, Vaibhav has honed his skills in collaborative story-making, interactive mapping, social impact mapping, and design innovation. He has also exhibited his work at prestigious festivals such as Ars Electronica and ARCO MediaLab Madrid.
With experience as a co-founder and chief designer at Timescape, Vaibhav has led teams to create map-based interactive storytelling platforms that enable outreach and advocacy campaigns, collaborative research, and social/environmental impact mapping.
Vaibhav has cultivated an impressive skill set that includes user experience design, design research, visualization, information design, and art. He is deeply committed to exploring new forms of storytelling and leveraging technology to create positive social change.
