Scott Herman is a software development expert with a passion for the fields of Remote Sensing, ML/AI/CV Analytics, Agile Development, and Cloud Computing. Currently serving as the Chief Solutions Architect at BlackSky in Herndon, VA, Scott has worked extensively in strategic planning, business development, product management, and software development throughout his career. He has studied Computer Science and Political Science as a dual-major at the University of Maryland College Park and pursued a Masters in IT Program Management from The George Washington University.

Scott has worked in various roles, serving as the VP of Product Development at DigitalGlobe (GeoEye) and VisualCV, and as the CIO & SVP of Enterprise Applications at webMethods (now Software AG). He also spent most of his career developing and deploying Imagery Analysis, Sensor Fusion, Knowledge Management, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the U.S. Intelligence Community.

Currently, Scott is focused on driving several software development initiatives at BlackSky, including the BlackSky Global Monitoring Platform called Spectra. Spectra is a suite of on-demand web services that offers satellite imagery management, multi-sensor fusion, and geospatial analytics that serves as the public face of BlackSky's constellation of remote sensing satellites and its ML/AI-driven analytics engine. He is also incubating a series of "next-generation" sensor processing and rapid cloud migration concepts.
