Gary Derck
Gary Derck is an accomplished CEO and real estate developer with extensive experience in resort and vacation home product development, community development, acquisition/disposition, and strategic operating initiatives. A Cornell University graduate and a University of Miami MBA student, Gary has worked with some of the largest and most comprehensive independent resort community portfolios in the ski industry.
Gary's work experience with Mountainsprings, LLC consulting company, where he served as CEO/President and CEO of resort operations for Summit Powder Mountain, has included the development and operational oversight of numerous resort communities, such as Purgatory Resort/Durango Mountain Resort, Kirkwood Mountain Resort, and Angel Fire Resort. He has led the development and redevelopment of several resorts, including Caneel Bay in St. John, USVI, Taos Ski Valley in Taos, NM, Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff, AZ, Pajarito Resort in Los Alamos NM, and Sipapu Resort in Taos, NM.
Gary has also been instrumental in pioneering innovative solutions in entitlements and approvals, system-built construction, financing, operational models, and organizational structures. His extensive experience in resort and real estate development has given him a unique perspective on how to develop and operate communities while delivering successful results.
Gary's past work experience includes serving as the CEO/General Manager of Loeb Enterprises, LLC, where he was responsible for developing Coyote Springs, a 42,000-acre mixed-use golf community near Las Vegas, and Wingfield Springs, a 1,600-acre golf community in Reno. He also served as the Director of Development at EDAW (now AECOM), a San Francisco-based real estate consulting firm, and as Vice President at EDSA, a Fort Lauderdale-based landscape architecture and land planning firm.
With his extensive background in resort and real estate development, Gary has become a respected voice in the industry, and his expertise is often sought out by peers and colleagues. He has helped shape the development of several communities and has left a lasting impact on the industry.
