Charles M. Persons is a seasoned attorney with a wealth of experience in debtor and creditor representations in complex domestic and cross-border chapter 11 cases, out-of-court reorganizations and refinancings, distressed acquisitions and debtor-in-possession financing. He also handles a variety of bankruptcy litigation matters, including appellate litigation. Charles has worked on multinational restructurings in the retail, aviation, automobile, and manufacturing industries. As a specialist in oil and gas industry restructuring matters, he has published several articles discussing the intersection of oil and gas law and restructuring law.

Charles completed his J.D. at Indiana University School of Law—Bloomington and his B.S. at Cornell University. He has worked in various capacities, including Business Restructuring & Reorganization Associate at Jones Day, Business Finance & Restructuring Senior Associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, Of Counsel at Togut, Segal & Segal LLP, and Restructuring Counsel at Sidley Austin LLP. He is presently serving as Restructuring Partner at Sidley Austin LLP.

Through his years of practice, Charles Persons has been recognized by New York Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" in restructuring consecutively from 2017 to 2018 and also by Texas Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" in restructuring from 2014-2017 and 2020.
