Ken Fairbanks is a seasoned professional of the online learning and instructional technology field. With almost two decades of experience in the Virginia Community College System, he has served in a wide range of administration and development roles, including the director of Online Learning & Instructional Technology and Quality Enhancement Plan Director at Virginia Highlands Community College.

As an educator, he has facilitated online professional development courses and workshops and has taught as an adjunct faculty member. His background in marketing and technology also allows him to meld the best practices in online learning pedagogy with common-sense marketing, enabling him to create engaging multimedia content that fosters strong relationships between online students, faculty, and schools.

Currently, Ken is pursuing a Ph.D. in Community College Leadership at Old Dominion University. His research interests include developing new business models for rural community colleges, blended learning in career and technical education programs, rural community colleges, and online learning.
