Daniel Scoggin

Daniel Scoggin is an accomplished individual with a strong background in education and leadership. He pursued his undergraduate degree in English Literature at Santa Clara University and studied abroad at the University of Durham in England during his junior year. Daniel continued his academic journey by obtaining a Ph.D. in English Literature from Claremont Graduate University.

Throughout his career, Daniel has held various teaching and coaching positions at institutions such as Harvey Mudd College, The Phoenix Institute at the University of Notre Dame, Mesa Community College, and Pomona College. In 1998, he became a humanities teacher and coach at Tempe Preparatory Academy. A year later, he was appointed as the headmaster of the academy, overseeing its growth and the success of its graduating classes.

In 2004, Daniel's pivotal role in developing the Great Hearts business plan and securing grant funding led to his promotion as the CEO of the charter management organization. Under his leadership, Great Hearts has expanded significantly, establishing over 20 academies dedicated to providing students with a classical liberal arts education focused on Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.

Daniel's commitment to academic excellence and educational reform has been recognized through prestigious fellowships such as the Piper Fellowship and the Pahara-Aspen Education Fellowship. He also completed the Stanford University Executive Education Program, further enhancing his leadership skills.

Currently, as the President of the Great Hearts Foundation, Daniel Scoggin continues his mission to transform American public schooling by championing classical education principles. He is actively involved in spearheading the establishment of new schools in Texas, with a recent success in opening an academy in San Antonio and plans for further expansion in Dallas/Ft. Worth and beyond.
