Stephen Cookson
Renewable energy expert Stephen Cookson has over 13 years of experience in the field. As a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer and holder of a Project Management Professional certification, Stephen is an accomplished leader and has led the development and closing of several utility-scale wind projects across Canada. He opened Renewable Energy Systems Americas' first office in South America in Santiago, Chile, before returning to Canada to lead the company's involvement in the Wataynikaneyap project, a $1.5B remote transmission line project that partnered with 22 First Nation communities.
With a focus on origination and project finance, Stephen is currently dedicated to the emerging C&I market in Alberta and leads RES Canada's power marketing and corporate PPA contracting efforts. Being fluent in English, French, and Spanish allows him to connect with a wider audience and engage with individuals interested in renewables opportunities.
Stephen studied B. Eng., Mechanical Engineering at Dalhousie University and currently resides in Montreal, Canada, where he is passionate about exploring potential corporate procurement of wind and solar across Canada.
