I am responsible for Enterprise Banking (SME) and Franchising segments across 15 African countries, excluding South Africa.

Head of Enterprise Banking and Franchising, Africa Regions

I am responsible for the Franchising unit that serves the 15 African countries, excluding that of South Africa. Local and Multinational Franchisors see Africa as a growth opportunity and we, as their bankers, assist them in leveraging this opportunity with our intimate knowledge of the continent. The unit is tasked to support Franchisors, Franchisees as well as the Standard Bank relationship teams outside the South African borders with a superior customer experience, deal structuring capability, business development etc. Customers stretch across the entire, diverse Franchising spectrum, including Quick Service Restaurants, Fuel Retailers, Retail etc.

Time is a scarce commodity for a senior executive at a bank. My role as the Business Manager to the Head of Business Banking, South Africa entails making the Executive more productive by representing her in various aspects including meetings, presentations, delegation of responsibility to the Business Bank EXCO etc. Further responsibilities include research, collation of information and governance.The second aspect of the role is a developmental one as it provides an overview of the organization and its various functions and provides direct exposure to, and learning opportunity from, the senior leadership of the Bank.

I am responsible for the management of the Mid-Corporate, Business, Public Sector & Commercial Property Finance lending portfolios. This responsibility includes growth in balances, margins and number of accounts. This is achieved by, amongst others, ensuring relevant products, effective processes, competitive pricing and responsible credit risk management.
