- Investigated and mediated a wide range of complex disputes between consumers and businesses and negotiated equitable solutions to the dispute•Identified violations of the Virginia Consumer Protection Act and wrote violation notices when one had occurred•Identified violations of the Virginia Residential Landlord and Tenant Act and other laws or regulations relating to assigned duties and responsibilities•Identified and referred cases for binding arbitration and assisted in the administration of the arbitration proceeding•Prepared binding legal agreements  for prosecution through the County Attorney•Testified in court proceedings in consumer/business and tenant/landlord litigation•Planned, wrote, coordinated, and distributed publications of consumer education material•Reviewed and processed applications for persons requesting licenses for solicitors, taxicab drivers, massage therapist/establishments, pawnbrokers, gun dealers, promoters and charitable organizations•Responded to inquiries from the Board of Supervisors regarding complaints from constituents•Performed speeches to civic associations and public high schools and made appearances on the local Fairfax County Government channel regarding the role of our agency and services offered to the public
