Part of the robotic musicianship group. Research consists of machine learning and developing cognitive models representative of musical phenomena. Specifically, I program robotic musicians to listen to and interact with human musicians using methods such as pattern classification, generative algorithms, and gesture recognition. Other research areas include sonification of visual data, Kindle, iPad, and Android development, and natural language processing.

Graduate Research Assistant

Worked in Dr. Alec Salt's, Cochlear Fluids lab and wrote computer applications pertaining to research of the inner ear. The software has been publicly released and is used in Otology labs around the world. FluidSim3.0 is an application that models the movement and displacement of drugs delivered into the inner ear as defined by user controllable variables and injection methods. DistortionModel simulates the transduction of sound energy by the ear and defines the harmonics generated as a consequence of this transduction. I also wrote several macros for NIH ImageJ that analyze MR images through the interpretation of pixel density and values.

Software Developer

Was granted a scholarship to conduct research consisting of sound interpretation through cochlear implants (specifically abstract sound such as music) and strategies to improve quality and clarity for the users. The research included a design of a DSP algorithm using noise gating, FFT, and bandpass filters to isolate specific frequency voices and develop a higher SNR. In addition, taking advantage of the implant's electrode positioning, an algorithm was developed to control the pulse rate and pattern of the electrical impulses that stimulate the cochlea.
