As part of this promotion, I moved to leading the Cloud Platform team and work throughout the organization. This included the IC work I was already doing to also managing external partners, development workflows, integrations architecture, etc.

There was a great focus on cost optimization with great results like saving over 20% on infrastructure cost, as well as optimizing resource utilization, latency, and collaborations.

As part of this role, I worked with our platform engineering team to completely revamp the platform at FLYR. 

This was a quite extensive work, that had an impact on the entire company. From Science platform, to QA environments, all the way to production environments.

The TL;DR of the work is that we migrated from a single tenant, single project, single Kubernetes cluster, to a broken down architecture that had clear separation between production environments,QA, experimentation, etc. 

This work helped not only to have a more stable, and more scalable architecture,but also to have clear breakdown on costs, monitoring, and provide the bases for proper cost of goods analysis. 

As part of this work, we also unified the entire monitoring infrastructure under Elasticstack, which provides a single place for observability. This now provides integrations with all the right tools for alerting, and behavior analysis of the sistem

While doing this, I also worked on the implementation of new processes across the entire organization for incident management, disaster recovery, SLO, etc.

All of the above, prepared us for certification and security auditing, which had not been done so far.

Senior Principal Platform Engineer

During my second tenure at Red Hat, I worked as part of the Ecosystem Engineering group.

This team looks at Red Hat's portfolio, the existing markets, and the potential there is for the company to expand itself in these markets either by refactoring existing products or creating a new ones. As part of this team, we took a hard look at all of the products and beliefs so that we could propose long-term, stable, scalable solutions to all of our customers.

More specifically, I helped with:

- Taking Assisted Installer SaaS to GA
- Portfolio consolidation between products built as part of the Ecosystem Team and other existing products.
- Exploration, analysis, and architecture of OpenShift Appliances with the ability to being relocated. This was the ground work leading to a broader view across the portfolio to have a consolidated solution.

Out of the coding realm, I worked:

- Closely with partners, PMs, TAM, and customers to guarantee the success of the various efforts I was leading
- Closely with our direct team to help leading such efforts from a technical perspective
- Closely with managers to make sure proper resources were allocated as well as helping them with the planning.

In these last tenure I wore many hats, took projects from nothing to customers, and worked closely with all the different roles required to make projects succeed. This gave me a broader view on the entire machine and helped me sharpen my decision and prioritization skills among others.

At Elastic I worked as part of the Infrastructure team, which is responsible for managing the infrastructure for internal services, developers, and customers. This infrastructure corresponded to >= 20 Kubernetes clusters that ran services like docker registry, geolocation services, CDN Proxy, etc.

The main focus went on the overall architecture, management, and deployment of these clusters. From providing users access to the clusters to the lower level management of the clusters, as well as their monitoring. 

The set of technologies used was quite vast, going from terraform, to Kubernetes. Development in multiple programming languages like clojure, Rust, Python, JS, etc.

I worked as an engineer in the OpenStack storage team leading the Glance (served as an upstream PTL during the Mitaka release) project and focusing on other storage technologies. I also lead the Zaqar messaging service and served as part of the Technical Committee.

In June 2016 I moved to the CTO office and I've been working on containerized OpenStack deployments. I still serve as a member of OpenStack's Technical Committee.

After working on the OpenStack containerized deployment, I moved onto a bigger project, leading the effort to deploy OpenShift on OpenStack using the openshift-installer. This project had an impact on multiple products of Red Hat's portfolio, making it of great relevance for the entire company.

Most of this modules were written using Python, C, C++ and Java. They were designed and developed from scratch and became the base of the company's main product
