Meet Janet Polata, a librarian with extensive experience in public, academic, and special collections settings. After studying at the University of Washington for her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) and earning her Bachelor of Arts at Macalester College, she worked her way up through various positions, building her expertise and honing her skills. Some of her specialties include in-person and virtual reference, bibliographic instruction, and archival arrangement and description.

Janet's most recent role was as Legislative Information Supervisor for the City of Seattle's Office of the City Clerk, where she managed the provision of accurate and timely information to City staff, Councilmembers, and the public. Prior to this, she worked as an Information Specialist for the same office. Janet has also served as a Reference Librarian for the Special Collections department at the University of Washington Libraries, as well as a Library Specialist II and a Student Reference Specialist.

Throughout her career, Janet has been involved with several notable organizations, including the Unterberg Poetry Center at 92nd Street Y, Barnard College's Psychology department, Cambridge University Press, and the Seattle Public Library. With her broad range of experience and skills, Janet is well-equipped to assist individuals and organizations alike with all their library and information needs.
