    Dr. Cyril Gay is a distinguished expert in agricultural research, biodefense, vaccines, and strategic technology transfers, with a strong background in the animal health research sector spanning over three decades.

    He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from The George Washington University.

    Throughout his career, Dr. Gay has held significant roles in both the pharmaceutical industry and the U.S. government, showcasing his leadership and expertise in developing and licensing veterinary vaccines.

    As Chief of Biotechnology at the Center for Veterinary Biologics, USDA, he pioneered the procedures for licensing molecular vaccines, culminating in the first license for a live recombinant vectored vaccine.

    Since joining the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the USDA in 2002, Dr. Gay has spearheaded a national research program addressing critical issues in animal and public health globally.

    Currently serving as the Senior National Program Leader at USDA-ARS, Dr. Gay provides strategic direction and national coordination for the Department's intramural animal health research program, overseeing key research facilities across the country.

    Dr. Gay has been recognized with prestigious awards, including two Pfizer Animal Health Presidential awards, the USDA Secretary's Honors Award, the ARS Special Administrator's Award, and a meritorious U.S Presidential Rank Award in 2017, highlighting his outstanding contributions to the field.
