Cybil Zhang is a senior executive at Bumble, currently serving as the Director of Strategy & Operations for the Member Safety Team.5 She has a background in social impact and strategy, having previously worked as the Social Impact and Strategy Senior Manager at Bumble.12
Zhang graduated from the University of Texas in 2014 with degrees in Canfield Business Honors and Supply Chain Management.1 After graduation, she began her career as a management consultant at Oliver Wyman.1 During her time there, she participated in a social impact fellowship in Zambia with TechnoServe, a firm focused on applying business solutions to poverty-stricken communities.1
Following her consulting experience, Zhang and a friend launched a solar light pilot project in Southern Africa, primarily in Botswana and South Africa.1 This entrepreneurial venture lasted for six to eight months before she returned to the United States and joined Bumble.1
At Bumble, Zhang has been instrumental in developing the company's social impact initiatives. She has described her role as similar to a chief of staff to the Bumble COO, focusing on aligning the company's giving with its product, users, and brand.1 Zhang has been involved in creating long-term partnerships and leveraging Bumble's brand to add value to these partnerships.13
Zhang has also played a key role in Bumble's response to social issues, including domestic violence. She was involved in Bumble's partnership with The National Domestic Violence Hotline, supporting their "love is respect" initiative.34 Additionally, she has contributed to Bumble's efforts to curb online abuse and support legislation against digital harassment.3
