Crescent Dragonwagon, born Ellen Zolotow on November 25, 1952, in New York City, is a prolific American author known for her diverse body of work that spans over fifty books across five genres. Crescent is the daughter of notable writers Charlotte and Maurice Zolotow. She adopted the name "Crescent" as a symbol of growth, while "Dragonwagon" reflects a playful approach to life. After leaving home at sixteen, she began her writing career with her first children's book published in 1971. Dragonwagon co-founded the Dairy Hollow House, an inn in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where she lived for over three decades. She has been actively involved in the cultural and literary life of Arkansas and established the non-profit Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow.16 Her work has garnered several awards, including recognition for her children's literature and culinary writings.
