Craig L. Gertsch, MPA, is a highly accomplished policy and management professional with a strong educational background that includes a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology - Latin America / International Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master’s Degree in Latin America Focus - Global Policy Studies from The LBJ School of Public Affairs, and studies in International/Global Studies at Harvard University. With a High School Diploma in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from San Pasqual High School, Craig brings a well-rounded academic foundation to his career.
Craig possesses expertise in policy development, legislative research, analysis, memo drafting, outreach, public communications (fluent in bilingual Spanish/English), and data collection. His leadership skills include team management, goal setting, performance reviews, and community/stakeholder communications. He is proficient in various technologies such as the Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, PC and Mac platforms, GIS (basic), R (basic), Skype, and Salesforce.
In his current role as Deputy Program Manager (Contractor) with the US Army, Craig Gertsch is involved in implementing Army Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) policies and procedures, providing treaty support operations, delivering training to diverse audiences, facilitating exercise planning, and offering policy expertise to US Army Headquarters on changes to Army CWC implementation policies. With a government clearance and experience in both private and government sectors, including foreign/Latin American affairs and security/defense spaces, Craig's knowledge spans a wide range of policy issues, nationally and internationally.
Craig's past positions include roles in various prestigious organizations such as the United States Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, US Government Accountability Office, Texas House of Representatives, Mexico Security Initiative at The LBJ School of Public Affairs, The University of Texas at Austin, Social Security Administration, University of California, Berkeley, and Padre Bay Medical Group. His diverse work experience has honed his skills in policy analysis, program management, security research, human rights research, project management, and patient relations coordination.
