Courtney Heldreth, PhD

Courtney Heldreth, PhD, is a Senior Staff User Experience Researcher at Google, specializing in ethical AI, sociotechnical systems, equity, and human-computer interaction.13 She has been with Google since 2018, contributing to research in these areas.1 Prior to her role at Google, she worked as a researcher at Facebook from 2016 to 2018.1

Dr. Heldreth completed her doctoral studies in social psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2010 to 2016. During her time at UCLA, she conducted research in social interaction and social stigma under the supervision of Jenessa Shapiro, Ph.D., and in stress processes and pregnancy with Christine Dunkel Schetter, Ph.D..2 Her work involved analyzing data from thousands of individuals to predict mental health outcomes among socially stigmatized groups using various statistical methods.2

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Biology from the University of California, Berkeley (2004-2008), and a Master of Arts in Social Psychology from UCLA (2010-2012).2 Dr. Heldreth is also recognized for her expertise in statistics and mixed-methods research.
